Kedama, never shy of experiments, have realized many projects with pretty simple means, also seemingly impossible stuff. Same this time: During recording sessions for their fifth CD they sort of heard hints of a rap underlying the track "fine young criminal." But how to find a rapper when you are old enuff to be his dad and hail from a completely different corner of the music scene to boot? By coincidence, duh! Most big things result from mere
coincidence. Anyway, one Friday evening in May 2004 Odium da Pro just was there. "HE" listened to some of the new tracks, said, "Well, guess we'll manage that," and then he got a-cracking. The whole nine yards in pure freestyle and in one single take! All were speechless, except him, of course. In June they met again for two or three hours and recorded another three freestyle raps for pieces Kedama had produced meanwhile. Again first takes only, no corrections, even blunders were left alone. After all, they couldn't even be considered real blunders. The result sure like heck is something new: Prog rockers go into rap, get fascinated by its nature, its rhythm, its youthful cheekiness, its snotty vigor. And rappers enjoy sharing "flow" with skilled old hands.
A smasher, an ear-opener and jaw-dropper for everyone interested in music - a brilliant fusion across the borderlines of music and generations...
